Tamara Taporoski, PhD

Dr. Tamara Taporoski is a Scientist II at the Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is a trained Neuropsychologist from the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, and received her PhD in Science from the University of São Paulo, where she conducted large-scale cognitive and behavioral assessments in adults from a family-based cohort. She later completed postdoctoral training in Sleep Science at Northwestern University, where she contributed to a large at-home study collecting EEG and cardiometabolic markers in 2,000 adults. Dr. Taporoski is currently completing a Master’s degree in Data Science. Her research spans sleep, cognition and cognitive aging, mental health, cardiometabolic health, and cognitive development in both population-based and clinical settings.
At the Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness, Dr. Taporoski is involved in studies employing high-density EEG to characterize the dynamic behavior of neural activity during sleep. She also contributes to research on non-pharmacological sleep enhancement, including auditory stimulation to boost slow-wave sleep, and its impact in wellbeing.
